Risk factors for complications following pelvic ring and acetabular fractures: A retrospective analysis at an urban level 1 trauma center

چکیده
Background: Pelvic ring and acetabular fractures are some of the most morbid in orthopedic trauma. They commonly require large exposures for fixation associated with significant morbidity mortality. This study attempts to identify risk factors complications following operative pelvic injuries. Methods: 126 patients treated injuries were reviewed retrospectively. Demographics, procedure characteristics, outcomes recorded. Variables analyzed using logistic regression analysis. Results: Complications occurred 12 patients. Higher BMI, longer length stay, ilioinguinal approach significantly increased infection risk. Co-morbid heart disease concurrent smoking status showed a trend BMI an likelihood re-operation. Positive psychiatric history Medicaid payer toward higher reoperation Conclusion: Knowledge these can help guide management predict fracture fixation.

Purpose This study was conducted to study the epidemiology, classification, treatment and outcome of a large patient group with pelvic ring injury in a level 1 trauma center in the Netherlands. Materials and Methods In the period of 2004 to 2014, we encountered 537 patients with a pelvic fracture. Many of them are due to a high energy trauma and therefore many concomitant injuries are observe...
متن کاملThe impact of trauma-center care on mortality and function following pelvic ring and acetabular injuries.
BACKGROUND Lower mortality and improved physical function following major polytrauma have been associated with treatment at level-I trauma centers compared with that at hospitals without a trauma center (nontrauma centers). This study investigated the impact of trauma-center care on outcomes after pelvic and acetabular injuries. METHODS Mortality and quality-of-life-related scores were compar...
متن کاملRisk of Spermatic Cord Injury During Anterior Pelvic Ring and Acetabular Surgery: An Anatomical Study
Background: Anterior pelvic ring surgery includes a variety of plating techniques and insertion of retrograde superior pubic ramus screws. Anterior acetabular surgery also includes fixation through an ilioinguinal or Stoppa approach. These exposures risk injury to the spermatic cord and accompanying genital branch of the genitofemoral nerve. The primary aim of this study was to identify the d...
